Journal
Journal’s profile
The International journal for history and social sciences education is a bilingual, interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research in the fields of history and social sciences education, in either English or French.
The journal is published once a year. It does not charge any submission or publication fees.
Submitting an article or a book review
The journal accepts articles and book reviews in English and French. Every article should be submitted alongside an abstract no longer than 200 words and 4 to 6 keywords, both in English and in French.
Submissions should include all authors’ full name and affiliation on the cover page of the manuscript as well as a short biographical note for each author no longer than 200 words.
Authors who are not native speakers must take care that their manuscript is language-checked and edited by a professional.
There is no word limit, although the articles’ length should preferably be between 8,000 and 12,000 words, including references and notes. While no strict limitations apply, the Scientific board expects an appropriate balance between length and content.
Illustrations should be sent as separate .jpg files, with a resolution 600 dpi, in black/white. Tables and graphics should be both incorporated in the text and sent as separate files for editing purposes.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions from copyright holders for all reproduction of contents.
Ethical standards
Any form of research misconduct, such as plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/fabrication, is frowned upon. The editorial board will reject outright all submission that shows evidence of such practices.
Evaluation procedure
Every article will be first evaluated by the members of the Scientific committee. Upon a preliminary acceptance, it will be sent to at least two external experts for a double-blind peer review. The Scientific committee will subsequently contact the authors, discuss the revision, if necessary, and take the final decision as to the publication of the manuscript.
Book reviews are not submitted to peer review but only evaluated by the Scientific committee.
Style Guidelines
The journal adopts the APA 7 style sheet.
English submissions should use British spelling consistently throughout the manuscript.
